Just Polly Maternity & Nursing Wear
If you’re pregnant, you’ll probably already be worn down by the total lack of stylish maternity wear on offer. Nine months of ‘nope, that’s unflattering’ or ‘oh yay, stripes again! It’s so nice to always feel like an archetypal pirate!’ and if you’re anything like me, once baby’s world-side, you’ll want to dress in anything and everything society says bumps couldn’t rock.
However; then you may have to face the cruel reality that breastfeeding too, is restrictive. You have to be able to get those bad boys out and believe me; when you’ve got a screaming, nuzzly, twelve day old baby headbutting your cleavage you will rue the day you ever decided it was alright to wear a dress with a zipper on the back. I try to always consider Milo and his feeding habits when it comes to what I wear, and luckily, nearly two years down the line he only needs me at nap time. However about three months ago, an impromptu nap time needed to happen on a train and I spent a good few minutes hoiking a dress up around my waist and getting my mum to cover my modesty with her duffle coat.
It’s really not easy.
That’s why, not so long ago, I was thrilled to insta-stumble across Just Polly London. Not just for mums-to-be or us with the udders; this brand makes be-a-utiful, classic clothes for anyone. Polly Hayward, the founder, decided to help a woman out and come up with designs along with her trusty team that can see you through. Rather than buying up a load of garms to keep you not-naked during pregnancy only to lob them away once you’ve had your baby, these are here to stay. These key pieces stretch with your bump, can be dressed up or down and are practical for breastfeeding. Although I ordinarily like to opt for high street when it comes to basics, I also like to check out independents if I fancy stretching the purse strings and Just Polly is somewhere I happily spend the pennies. In my wardrobe, I’ve now got this simple yet stand-out day dress (The Anna) which I was wearing yesterday and the statement Zoe Stripe Shirt which I’ll be rocking for some meetings next week. I’d hugely recommend Just Polly for both occasion wear and fighting the frumpy mum vibe; this is a brand who knows where it’s at.
